JVC offers the "Archival-Grade"Disc, which is especially suitable for storing valuable images or data.

The recording surface of the "Archival-Grade" Disc is treated with a special hard-coating, which helps to prevent scratching and dirt, and thus reduces signal errors during recording or playback.

1. Scratch-resistant and durability is enhanced by 150 times!

Durability Test result Hard-coated discs are resistant to scratches caused by accidentally touching the hard-coated recording surface or dropping the disc from a table, and are therefore less likely to cause errors during recording and playback. The durability of hard-coated discs is 150 times longer than conventional discs that are not hard-coated.

2. Adhesion of oil dirt, such as fingerprints, is reduced to one-seventh its previous level

Resistance against Fingerprint Adhesion The hard-coating prevents oil dirt, such as fingerprints, from adhering to the recording surface, and enables such dirt to be wiped off easily, thereby reducing the occurrence of errors during recording and playback.

1. Scratch-resistant and durability is enhanced by 150 times!

Charged Potential and Decay Time As one of the characteristics of the hard-coated recording surface is that it helps to minimize the occurrence of static, dust does not adhere easily to the surface, and errors are therefore less likely to occur during recording and playback. The amount of time needed to discharge the charged disc surface is reduced to less than 1/1000 times when compared to conventional discs.
